“STARBOOKS is a concrete step by the Central Library to change the paradigm. Literacy is not merely a charitable program—it is a movement of social entrepreneurship that is independent, sustainable, and directly contributes to the nation’s intellectual growth.”
UNPAK — A warm and spirited atmosphere filled the courtyard of Al Kautsar Mosque, Pakuan University, on Friday (October 17). The Central Library of Pakuan University, in collaboration with the Al Kautsar Mosque Council (DKM), once again held its regular Friday event, “STARBOOKS Sharing Iced Tea.” A total of 100 cups of STARBOOKS iced tea were distributed to congregants and students after Friday prayers.
This activity is part of the innovative STARBOOKS (Smart Reading and Coffee Corners) program—an initiative that combines creative literacy promotion, social entrepreneurship, and compassion-driven values.
“We aim to bring literacy to life in a more grounded and refreshing way—not only through books and reading materials, but also via social spaces that are close to students’ daily lives. STARBOOKS serves as a bridge between reading, relaxing, and sharing kindness,” said the Head of the Central Library of Pakuan University.
The Chairman of the Al Kautsar Mosque Council, Mr. Jalal, expressed his appreciation for this collaboration.
“We warmly welcome this partnership with the Central Library. The mosque can become a hub for social, spiritual, and literacy activities that shape the character of Pakuan University students,” he said.
In his message, the Rector of Pakuan University, Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Ir. H. Didik Notosudjono, M.Sc., gave his full support to the program.
“STARBOOKS is a real example of how literacy can take a simple yet meaningful form. It is a small step with a big impact on the culture of literacy and solidarity on campus,” he stated.
Beyond its sharing activity, the program also opens opportunities for students and lecturers to participate in the STARBOOKS literacy donation program. Each purchase of a cup of STARBOOKS iced tea for Rp3,000 is fully donated to support the development of reading corners, literacy activities, and campus social programs.
The Head of the Central Library invited the entire academic community to join the initiative:
“Every Friday, let us share and read together. By enjoying a cup of STARBOOKS iced tea, we not only quench our thirst but also nurture the spirit of literacy and compassion at Pakuan University.”
