Through this collaboration, both UNPAK Vocational School and BSI New Normal hope to contribute to maintaining environmental cleanliness.
UNPAK – On January 30, 2025, the Computer Engineering Study Program and the Information Management Study Program of the Vocational School at Universitas Pakuan (UNPAK) conducted a benchmarking activity at Bank Sampah Induk New Normal (BSI New Normal), an organization focused on waste management with an innovative approach.
The purpose of this activity was to share experiences and formalize a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) covering research, training, and community service. Through this collaboration, it is hoped that both parties can strengthen their roles in supporting environmental sustainability and community empowerment.
The benchmarking event was attended by the Vice Dean of the Vocational School at UNPAK, Mrs. Halimah Tus Sa’diah, M.Kom., the Head of the Computer Engineering Study Program, Mrs. Sufiatul Maryana, M.Kom., and the Head of the Information Management Study Program, Mrs. Dian Kartika Utami, M.Kom.
The visit included in-depth discussions on the importance of collaboration between education and the community in addressing waste management issues.
One of the main outcomes of the meeting was an agreement to develop and implement expert/professional assistance in conducting research programs, training, and community service aimed at raising awareness and knowledge in the community about better waste management practices.
The Founder of BSI New Normal, Yasra Al-Fariza, S.H., emphasized the importance of educating the public about the management of organic and inorganic waste, as well as the crucial role of waste banks in collecting, sorting, and processing inorganic waste to create marketable value.
This initiative is expected to change the community’s perspective on waste, transforming it from something considered useless into a resource that can be reused.
In addition, the benchmarking activity also strengthened the commitment of both parties to support the development of human resources in waste management, by conducting training and providing insights on how to manage waste more efficiently and sustainably.
Through this collaboration, both the Vocational School at UNPAK and BSI New Normal hope to make a greater contribution to maintaining environmental cleanliness while also providing economic benefits to the community.
It is expected that this PKS will not only symbolize cooperation but also serve as a concrete step to realize programs that will have a positive impact on both the environment and society at large.
With the involvement of experts and professionals, the implementation of this program is expected to proceed more effectively and deliver optimal results.
